What is the difference between brand name and generic medications?

A generic drug is a medication for which the original manufacturer has lost patent protection. The generic drugs produced in Canada go through the same rigorous approval and regulatory process as brand name drugs and must provide the same therapeutic effect as the brand name drug. The manufacturers of such drugs are very large and well respected. They include Apotex, Novopharm, Genpharm and Pharmascience.

Why can I buy generic drugs from Canada that are not available in the United States?
Due to differences in patent law, Canada produces generic versions of brand name drugs that are not yet available in other countries. These versions usually offer substantial savings over brand names.

Are all American prescriptions available in Canada?
No. Not all drugs available in the United States are approved in Canada. The majority of medications, however, are available in Canada.

Will the drugs I receive from Canada offer the same quality as the drugs that I purchase in the United States?
Canada has exceptionally high manufacturing requirements for pharmaceuticals with high standards and a rigorous approval system. Many of the drugs sold in Canada are the same as those sold in the United States. Others are manufactured in Canada or in other countries, and are the version sold in Canada. In fact, some drugs may even have different names or look different than the ones you may be familiar with in the United States. For example, in Canada, the U.S. drug "Prilosec" is called "Losec" and is a pill form rather than a capsule, even though it is the same drug manufactured by the same pharmaceutical company. YourCanadianMeds.Com will not ship any pharmaceutical products that do not have an approved version in the United States.

Where does YourCanadianMeds.Com ship to?
YourCanadianMeds.Com ships within Canada and the United States only.

Why do some prescription drugs have different names in Canada?
Drug manufacturers will often use different trade or brand names in different countries. However, all approved prescription medications have the same active ingredients, even though they may look different and have different trade names. For example, Prilosec (U.S.) and Losec (Canada), or Augmentin (U.S.) and Clavulin (Canada).

How can YourCanadianMeds.Com offer such low prices on prescription drugs?
Some reasons why prescription drug prices are lower in Canada are:

  • The Canadian government forbids Pharmaceutical companies from advertising prescription drugs in Canada.

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturers have a limit as to how much they can charge for brand-name drugs, in Canada.

  • Generic drugs are often times available in Canada earlier than in the United States.

Do I need a prescription to order from YourCanadianMeds.Com?
Yes. Just like at your local pharmacy you must provide us with a valid prescription from a physician licensed to practice medicine and to prescribe medications in your country of residence.

Can I buy medications prescribed to me by my U.S. doctor?
Yes. Once all the required forms have been completed and received, the information will be reviewed and forwarded to a licensed Canadian physician for approval under his/her Canadian license.

Can I transfer my prescription from my local pharmacy?
We cannot transfer any non-Canadian prescriptions. We must have a faxed or original copy of your prescription.

Will you accept my U.S. insurance plan?
Unfortunately, we do not currently accept U.S. insurance plans because pharmacy and doctor services are provided in Canada. We will provide you with a proper receipt for insurance purposes, which your insurance company may or may not accept.

Does YourCanadianMeds.Com sell Valium, Tylenol #3 or other controlled substances?
YourCanadianMeds.Com does not ship narcotics or other controlled substances.

Do you have a limit on the prescription drug quantity I may order?
Due to regulations, we can only ship a three month supply at a time.

What methods of payment do you accept?
Payment for the products can be made by: Visa, MasterCard, or money order.

What if you don’t have all the items in stock?
If the item you ordered is out of stock, we will order it from our supplier. If the item is not available form the supplier, we will contact you and inform you.

How long does it take to process and ship my prescription order?
Your Initial order will be processed within approximately 1-2 business days of receiving your completed forms and valid prescription. Shipping to the U.S. and Canada, usually takes about 7-10 business days.

What happens if my shipment never arrives?

Please inform us immediately if you have not received your medications in approximately 15 days after the order has been placed. In which case, YourCanadianMeds.Com will place a trace on your package at the Post Office.

What is your return policy?
We cannot cancel orders that have already been shipped. By law we cannot take back prescription medication.  Therefore, all sales are final.
